A History of Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia

Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia is a ministry of Lancaster Baptist Church that began in 2000 under the leadership of Pastor Paul Chappell. Having spent part of his childhood in Korea as a missionary’s son, Pastor Chappell has long carried a heart for the people of Asia and a burden to encourage those laboring for the gospel throughout the region.

The first Asia leadership conference was held in Seoul, South Korea, as Lancaster Baptist Church invested time, prayer, and resources into strengthening pastors, missionaries, and Christian workers. From those early days, the ministry of Spiritual Leadership Conference continued to grow, with conferences held in Lancaster, California, and in other regions of the world.

Across Asia, the need for Christian laborers remains great. God has called many missionaries to plant churches and train national pastors, and He has raised up national leaders who are faithfully preaching the gospel as pastors, evangelists, and missionaries. Because many of these servants are unable to attend Spiritual Leadership Conference in Lancaster, California, Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia exists to bring biblical preaching, practical training, and spiritual encouragement to them.

In 2027, Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia will return to Manila, Philippines. It is our prayer that God will use this conference to refresh servants of Christ, strengthen churches, and further the work of the gospel throughout Asia and beyond.

Purpose

Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia exists to encourage and equip Asian church leaders for evangelism and discipleship in the local church.

This happens through a large, bi-annual conference in Asia as well as annual evangelistic outreaches and conferences for church workers. We also assist in distributing local language Bibles and developing local language Christian growth resources.

Spiritual Leadership Conference Purpose

Spiritual leadership Conference Asia is a ministry of Lancaster Baptist Church and Pastor Paul Chappell. We strive to impact the region of Asia through the following 4 purposes:

Engage: Spiritual leaders from Baptist churches in the 10/40 window for collaboration in the gospel. (Philippians 1:27)

Edify: Christian workers through fellowship, connecting and preaching. (1 Timothy 1:4, Ephesians 4:29)

Equip: Through ministry workshops and on line resources. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

Evangelize: By connecting pastors, missionaries, and future full-time servants to the work of church planting, missions, and evangelism. Through involvement in personal soulwinning and soulwinning training. (Matthew 28:19-20)

We are grateful for many laborers and pastors from the region and throughout the world who support the conference with prayer, finance, and labor, as we reach souls for Christ in the 10-40 window.

A History of Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia

Spiritual Leadership Conference Asia began as a ministry of Lancaster Baptist Church in 2000. Pastor Paul Chappell invited speakers from the Spiritual Leadership Conference in Lancaster, CA to preach and teach in Asia. Lancaster Baptist invested time and resources to have spiritual impact through these conferences. Early conferences were held in South Korea and the Philippines. God blessed mightily, and many pastors and missionaries were challenged and equipped. As a result, numerous souls were saved throughout the region of Asia.

In 2012, while speaking in Austrailia, Pastor Chappell met Niranjan Sundararaj. Niranjan’s son, Soren enrolled as a student at West Coast Baptist College and now serves as a missionary to Sri Lanka. God knit the hearts of Pastor Chappell and Niranjan Sundararaj together for the cause of missions. At that point they began planning an expanded emphasis on training and equipping Spiritual Leaders in Asia. They began working diligently for Spiritual Leadership Conference in Singapore in 2015. Another conference was planned for Manila in 2016.

The most recent conferences in Manila have been unusually blessed as a collaborative effort between Lancaster Baptist Church and the great host churches of the Philippines.
